More cows forward and a show carrying more flesh on the whole. Trade also slightly sharper compared to recent static trade, especially for leaner feeding types seeing a 5-8ppk lift.
For a second week running it was a North Northumbrian farmer producer taking advantage of the Hexham cast ring, this time Dallas Allen, Humbleheugh brought a great team of Angus cows and overaged heifers which sold like hotcakes and led the sale of cows at £1894.88.
Just 79p behind was a monster 940kg Angus cow from Messrs C A & J Watmore, Holystone Estate, which sold to £1894.10.
Overage heifers sold to very solid rates with pure Angus’s from Humbleheugh selling to 245.5ppk, 244.5ppk and 243.5ppk leaving the Alnwick based family delighted with their days trading.

Hexham & Northern Marts sold 984 Prime Hoggs reaching new levels in trade with the whole sale averaging £151.29 for 45kgs.
Soaring over £200 on 4 occasions a full ring of competitive buyers keen for all classes of stock.
Topping the sale at £213 was Texel x hoggs from Mr Dave Brodie, Chesters who also had hoggs at £201, with his consignment of 23 averaging £176.96.
At £202.50 was Texel x hoggs from Messrs Teasdale, Kellah Farm also selling hoggs at £200.
Topping the ppk section at 377.8ppk was Beltex x hoggs from Weardale vendors S J Love, Holywell Farm.
Not far behind at 372.5ppk was Beltex hoggs from Mr T Sowerby, Partridge Nest.
