A mixed bag of clean with some over aged beasts entered. Trade topped at 280.5ppk for a Charolais cross heifer from Mr F T Walton, Flotterton. Highest grossing animal was an overaged Limousin cross heifer from Messrs Thockrington Farms, Thockrington that sold to £1956.11.

Cast Cows & OTM

A depeated entry this week with lambing starting, a very mixed, lean show with a good entry of ladies out of the parlour. Trade dearer on the week especially for the quality forward. A large number of the entry would also hale from non-assured holdings which made no difference at all to the trade.

Topping the sale was a Limousin cross cow from H & TV Walton, Settlingstones which realised 259.5ppk.

Highest grossing cow was a well finished Beef Shorthorn cow from Messrs W R Sparke & Son Little Swinburne that grossed to £1871.26.

An increase in Dairy Cows sold to competitive rates with three cows selling to 179.5ppk, two Ayrshires from Messrs G G Baynes & Son, Marley Cote Walls and a fit Holstein Friesian from Peepy Farm Ltd.

Hexham and Northern Marts Prime Sheep ring held a strong trade with 552 Prime Hoggs through the ring, with a mixed show and over a third of Mules and Hill breeds.

Todays trade was topped by a terrific Texel Hogg at £149 from David & Harrison Collingwood, Intake Farm who also sold strong hoggs to £147, £146 & £145.

Top ppk went to Messrs AJ & T Snaith, Great Tosson with Beltex crosses to a perfect 300.0ppk.
