More Cast Cows forward that met a faster trade, the mixed show of 61 cows averaged an impressive 209.2ppk. Better continental cows selling in excess of 235ppk. Angus cross cows in real demand with numerous cows breaking the 220ppk barrier in the Hexham Cast Cow ring today.

Taking top honour was a Limousin cross cow from Messrs Rochester & Murray, Glebe Farm selling to 263.5ppk.

Highest grossing cow was a heavy, non-assured Angus cow from Robert Graham, The Gennell realising £1974.50.

Holstein cows sold well with S J Kellett & Son, Whitehouse Farm selling cows to £1551.83.

More cows of all classes could have been sold to the vendors advantage.

Hexham and Northern Marts sold 582 Prime Hoggs to a lesser trade for a wide rang of breeds, shapes and sizes forward.

The sale peaked at £150 for a huge Suffolk cross hogg from Mr Peter Burgess, High Keenley Fell.

Topping the ppk was a shapey Beltex cross at 276.2ppk from Messrs I & L Weatherley, Windy Hill.
