An entry mainly made up of Natives and overage heifers. The better end of the heifer sold very well and dearer on the week with Limousin cross heifers from Messrs BW & GE Tailford, Beacon Rigg selling to 305.5ppk.

Cast Cows & OTM

Cast Cattle trade meets new heights. The increase in numbers saw more buying power ringside which in turn made for extreme rates. The entry of 83 Cast Cows & Bulls went on to average 193ppk and more could have been sold.

No real superstars this week but good, well finished Limousin cows from Messrs R English & Son, Brownsleazes sold to a high of 245.5ppk. The same cow took the highest grossing price of the day also, realising £2096.57.

Leaner, feeding sorts saw another rise with many selling in excess of 180ppk.

Cast Bulls sold to £1864.50 and 169.5ppk for a Saler from Whitfield Estates.

Topping the sale at £135 was a pair of Suffolks from Mr Peter Burgess, High Keenley Fell and also for a Texel from Messrs G Carins & Partners, Broomhall

Top ppk was a trio of Beltex at 276.3ppk from RRE & JR Reay, St Oswalds.
