More cows forward this week with more producers starting to bring cattle in for winter. The show predominantly consisted of older, feeding sorts, which met a firmer trade and possibly sharper than previous weeks. The better fleshed cows again very easily cashed and sold in excess of 310p/kg. Good feeding sorts sold between 265-275p/kg which left a sale average of 270p/kg.

 Leading the sale was a well-fleshed Limousin cross cow from Airey Brothers, Brownchesters which sold to 337.5p/kg. Highest grossing cow this week came from A R Lawson, South Farm, Hallington with a stonking Pedigree Angus cow that realised £2903.75.

Dairy cows met a sharper trade all round with H Tinker & Sons, Ashes Farm, Rotherham selling a well-fleshed Ayrshire cow for £2125.20 or 241.5p/kg.

Hexham & Northern Marts sold 1630 Prime Lambs to a very similar trade on the week.

Topping the sale at £180 was a superb Dutch Spotted cross Lamb from T J Lee & Son, Hackford.

Top p/kg was a pen of 6 Texel cross lambs at 334.2p/kg from Cheeseburn Grange.
