St Johns Chapel Mart held its penultimate sale of the 2025 Season offering an entry of 1642 Feeding Ewes and Store Lambs to another very strong trade, with an all-in average of £94.38 for Store Lambs which includes 780 Swaledale lambs.
Topping the Lambs at £130 was J Nattrass, Shield Hill Top with strong Suffolk cross lambs. A Peart & Son, Woodcroft sold 44 quality Texel cross lambs to make £129 and 19 more at £128.
R W Dalton, West End made the successful trip to St johns selling 15 shapey Beltex cross lambs to £128 and another 12 at £127. P Walton, Bowes Close made the popular trip from Teesdale to St John’s to top at a healthy £126.
Mules were easily cashed peaking at £124 from LM Hutchinson, Pease Myers with 17 more from J Nattrass, Shield Hill Top also making £124, another sale another £100 plus average for 449 Mule Lambs at St Johns.
Swaledale Lambs sold to a flyer, a super 780 sold to average a whopping £82.70 topping at £101 was T W Vickers, Thornley Hall. Mr I Potts, Redburn sold 28 to make £100 also selling 5 more at £96 and 27 at £90 another good days trading for the Redburn team. D Collingwood, Intake sold 16 at £95 and averaged £91.77 for his consignment of Swale Lambs. Others to make headlines was R Collingwood, Stewart Shield selling 33 to make £92 and J Nattrass, Shield Top selling 25 to make £92 along with N & N Foster, Birch Bush also reaching £92
Feeding Ewes and Rams also sold to good returns topping was Ludwell Farm With a pair of texels at £142.
Swaledale Ewes sold to £72 from J R & C M Dalton, South Wellhope
