On Saturday the 22nd of August St John’s Chapel held it’s second Store sale of the season offering a strong entry of 1825 Store Lambs and Feeding Ewes, selling to yet another strong trade, vendors travelling from Newcastle to Patterdale and everywhere in between to take advantage of a competitive trade at St John’s Chapel. Averaging all in £113.28 up £9 on the year for 487 more Lambs sold. Big lambs, small lambs, all breeds and sizes are very much in demand and wanted here at St John’s Chapel
Top price on the day went to R Nattrass & Sons, Sunrise Farm with a quartet of strong Texel x lambs at £145 with other lambs from this home reaching £135.
Other Texel x lambs peaked at £140 for 15 sweet sorts from P W Iredale, Greenbank who made the long trip from Patterdale to market his stock selling another quality pen at £130.
R R Reay & Sons, West Moorhouses sold pens of shapey Texel x lambs to reach £139 and £137. D Fletcher & D Coates, Short Thorns sold 34 well bred Texel x lambs to reach £130 with 61 more at £120.
Beltex x lambs topped at £136 for 5 from C & D Bell, Warden Hill
There was 34 pens or 687 Mule Lambs under the hammer at St John’s averaging a whopping £109.09. Top price went to St John’s regular JB Fletcher, Friar House with 6 strong lambs at £126. MW & E Dent, Wythes also made the trip from Middleton-In-Teesdale selling a fantastic pen of 42 Mule Lambs to reach £121 this home also sold 22 to more at £110. J Archer, Glenhill also sold a pen of 10 powerful mules at £121.
Feeding Ewes also sold to strong rates topping at £205 for pair of Suffolk x ewes from J & C Dent, Longdale this home also sold others to £202 and £190.
