An increased entry of cattle this week with a catalogued entry of 63 Store Cattle forward. These met a blistering trade once again like the previous week and look a big price compared to the finished values. The entry again lacked forward stores that carried flesh, but this had little effect of trade, leading the days sale was an Angus cross steer from M Cameron, High Yarridge which sold to £2360.00.
J & J Bell, Harewalls sold a Charolais cross steer that was well sought after to £2280.00. Ian Bell and Rebecca Dickins of Hallbankgate Farms enjoyed their trip to Hexham once again and sold their usual run of quality Charolais cattle, bred by homebred bulls out of hairy hill cows. These sold to £2100.00 and £2080.00, leaving the Hallbankgate team highly delighted with another visit to Hexham.
It was J & J Bell, Harewalls who sold the highest priced heifer on the day which was another Charolais cross which sold to £2100.00. Angus cross heifers from J D Straughan, Hill Head cashed away to £1980.00.
The younger, yearling section consisted entirely of Angus cross cattle which sold to £1740.00 for a steer from M Cameron, High Yarridge.
Young Aberdeen Angus bulls from R J & L A Acton, Braidley cashed easily to £2160.00. Many more young bulls can be handled here at this centre with weekly purchasers ringside.

Hexham & Northern Marts sold 1439 Cast Ewes & Tups to a two tier trade, with fat very easy to sell and leaner sorts less.
Topping the sale at £302 was a pair of Texels from R Thornton & Sons, Cornhills who also sold ewes at £295 and £288.
Dutch Texel x ewes sold to £260 for a pair from J Lee & Sons, Agars Hill.
Suffolk x ewes sold to £222 for a trio from W Walton & Sons, Ogle Castle Farm and at £220 was a pen of 14 from G W Dodd & Sons, Saugh Housae.
Bluefaced Leicester sold to £215 from J E & E Dobson & Sons, White Kirkley.
Mule ewes sold to £180 from M M & S D Fenwick, Angerton Steads.
Blackface ewes sold to £140 for 7 from W & J A Longlands, Rusheylaw.
Swales topped at £130 from West Kirkley.

Store Lambs
Hexham & Northern Marts sold a catalogued entry of 5609 Store Lambs to a strong trade given the dry weather and prime lamb price coming easier.
Sheep are in demand and wanted here at Hexham, selling exactly 3000 more lambs on this day last year, 3611 more lambs on this day in 2024, 2864 more lambs on this day in 2023 and 4134 more on this day in 2022!
We thank both vendors and purchasers for their support and credit due for such good stock in Hexham.
Topping today at £156 was a trio of corkers from Liberty Hill Farm at £156, this home also sold 11 more at £142.05.
P Ambler, Tecket sold 7 to £148 and averaged £141.05 for his consignment of well-bred Texel lambs.
Suffolk x lambs sold to £146 for a pen of 40 from Devonport Farms, who also sold 29 more at £134 and averaged a pleasing £129.56 for 285 sold. J Herdman, Edlingham Newtown also sold 34 thumpers at £146.
The first influx of Mule lambs came today with all 326 averaging £113.63. D I Rock, Hethpool sold 5 to £131 with 12 more at £129. Messrs Moore, Softley sold 32 nice lambs to £118
