Prime Cattle
An increased entry of Clean Cattle with a large proportion of them being big, heavy bullocks. An improved trade was observed compared to alternative outlets with all classes well bid for.
Leading the sale with a well fleshed Limousin cross steer was J Hunter & Sons, The Steel which sold to 371.5p/kg. A great run of heavy weight steers and handy weight heifers from RA & BA Ridley & Son Ltd, Dipton Foot were forward which weighed well and met a nice trade selling to 387.5p/kg for Limousin cross heifers. Heavy steers sold to 337.5p/kg whilst grossing to a magnificent £2963.88 for a very heavy Limousin cross.

Cast Cows
A smaller entry of Cast Cattle this week met a great trade once again and would be sharper on the week because of the tightening supply. The better continental bred cows that carried flesh saw a sizable lift with many cashing between 310-330p/kg.
Leading the sale and taking advantage of the very competitive Hexham Tuesday ring was C R Fawcett & Son, Well House whose eight-year-old Pure Limousin sold to 329.5p/kg and £2405.35.
Leading the natives this week was well fed Luing cows from G W Dodd & Sons, Saugh House selling to 303.5p/kg on two occasions.
Topping the grossing charts this week was a thick Simmental cross cow from G Roddam & Partners, Black Carts which cashed away at £2475.20. A big 10-year-old pure Angus cow from E Lishman, Fell Lane sold to £2436.05.

Hexham & Northern Marts sold 1259 Prime Lambs to a lightly better than expected trade. Overall average of £176.10 or 403ppk which is 654 more lambs, £34.79 and 79ppk up on the year.
Topping the sale at £235 twice was I Burn & Sons, Grange House.
Top ppk was 486.1ppk for a Texel x lamb from T W Bulman & Son, Burn House.
