Cast Cows & OTM
An increased entry of Cast Cows and Bulls this week which met another firm trade with all classes easily cashed. A leaner show forward compared to previous weeks. Feeding cows are still wanted and easily cashed and haven’t shown the usual dip in trade that is usually observed this time of year. This left a very healthy average of £1917.78 and 267p/kg for all shapes and sizes.
The trade peaked at 331.5p/kg for a Limousin cross cow from J Lee & Sons, Agars Hill. Today’s highest grossing cow was a non-assured Pedigree Hereford from T & D Harrison, Old Potato House, which achieved £2623.50.
Dairy cows topped at 237.5p/kg and £1781.25 for an Ayrshire from G G Baynes & Son, Marley Cote Walls.
More Cast Cows needed on a weekly basis here at Hexham and sold to a very competitive ringside of purchasers.

Hexham & Northern Marts sold a reduced entry of 1059 Prime Lambs which sold to a dearer trade with all buyers in attendance. Proper fed lambs selling to a premium.
Topping the sale was a trio of clipped Texel x lambs at £184 from J H Emerson, Haggate.
Top ppk was 400ppk for a pair from D & J Baty, Catreen.
Many more can be sold here at Hexham with a full ring of buyers keen for all classes of lambs.
