A reduced entry of 116 Store Cattle to improved rates as a well-supported ringside of buyers eagerly demand numbers.
Sale top of £2540 showed on two occasions from W H Davison & Son, Lough Green and R A Ogle, Comb Hills for shapey Limousin x heifers that could do either job as breeding heifers or as butchers’ heifers at Christmas shows to the highest standards.
Telfer Bros, Make-Me-Rich saw their dozen of high standard Charolais and Limousin cross bullocks and heifers sell to £2500 with a rewarding average of £2245.83.
Whilst catching the eye J & D Longlands stylish trio of well-bred heifers achieved £2500 twice and averaged £2400.
Numbers very much short of buyer demand and welcomed in earnest for next week’s sale. Entries to auctioneers or the office by Tuesday Morning.

Topping the sale at £295 was a Texel ewe from T Common & Son, Low Ardley.
A pen of 5 Texel ewes from J F Johnson & Son, Tuthill sold for £286.
At £275 was a pen of 8 Texel ewes from E J Lawson, Middleton Mill.
Suffolk ewes sold to £218 from D Collingwood, Intake.
Cheviot ewes sold to £190 from Messrs Dent, Beamwham.
Ryeland ewes sold to £180 from P Kettle, Brydale.
Mule ewes sold to £170 for 4 from R F Rogerson, Harbottle Grange.
Swale ewes sold to £112 for a pair from R & M J Lee, Harwood Shield.

STORE LAMBS
Hexham & Northern Marts sold a catalogued entry of 6536 Store Lambs to an electric trade to average all in £124.39, for most likely Hexham’s biggest ever sale on a Friday in August. All breeds, shapes, sizes and fitness is wanted and competitively bid for here at Hexham.
Topping today at £188 was 10 shapey Beltex x lambs from J Lee & Sons, Agars Hill. This home also sold 6 more at £185, another 7 at £185 and 6 more at £179. Beltex x lambs averaged £149.06 all in today, the number one place to sell best shaped lambs is here. R R Reay & Sons, West Moorhouses was next up at £166 for 6 Beltex x lambs. This home averaged £144.52 for a fantastic run of lambs.
Texel x lambs peaked at £173 from Miss D Potts, Dukes Hagg for 6 strong lambs. This home also sold 30 more at £154. R J Bradbury, Black Heddon sold a pen of 45 very well-bred lambs at £164.
An extraordinary 284 different pens of Texel x lambs were £120 or more, and all 3549 averaged £128.18.
Suffolk x lambs reached £141 for 24 powerful sorts from W Taylor & Son, Great Bavington.
The best place to market Mule lambs through the week is a Friday, topping at £135 for 20 crackers from S J & B A Murray, Stable Yard who also sold 30 more at £128. T Nixon & Sons, Longlea sold 16 at £125 and a further 47 at £118. Special mention must go to F & M Moore, Highside who sold 39 flashy Mules at £124.
Cheviot Mules were well cashed, reaching £144 from J Northwood, Douglas Gardens.
Cheviot lambs are now appearing in force, reaching £130 from Fairnilee Farm.
Many more sheep wanted here at Hexham to satisfy customer demand. Today an extra 1627 lambs sold than the same sale last year.
