Prime Cattle
A smaller and plainer show of clean this week which sold to 369.5p/kg and £2298. 29 for Charolais cross heifers from Mr FT Walton, Flotterton.

Young Bulls
A plainer show of bulls this week but these still sold well for a quality forward and created great returns for the current climate. These sold to 309.5p/kg for a Charolais from Harnham Hall Farming Ltd. A nice run of well-fed Holstein bulls from C & S Armstrong, Middle Moor sold to a high of 294.5p/kg and £2,414.90.

Cows
Hexham’s Cast Cattle ring saw one of its strongest entries for the time of year, featuring one of the best shows of cows in recent years. The ring’s growing reputation for being able to sell the best of cast cows with ease continues to grow week by week. The fifty four cast cattle went on to average an enviable 293p/kg and a grossing value of £2169.45.
Leading todays fabulous sale came from the outstanding run of cattle from renowned Morpeth producers, Renton Highlaws Ltd, High Highlaws. A shapey black, BB x cow that went on to sell for 369.5p/kg and £3177.70. The same home sold another BB x cow to 367.5p/kg. The run of eight cows from the Renton family went on to average a very healthy 341.9p/kg.
A Pure Blue cow from R Carr, Little Bavington reached the dizzy heights of 367.5p/kg. This cow that was full of flesh and style went on to gross £3259.73, the highest grossing cow on the day. Pure Charolais cows are always highly sought after here at Hexham and Messrs Curry, Low Burradon capitalised on this and sold cows to £3083.18.
Highest grossing native cow this week went to a thumping Angus cross cow from Holystone Estate, Low Farnham which achieved £2785.50. The same home sold a ten-year-old Highland cow to £1699.50.
Away from the fit, well fleshed cows, leaner cows also say a dearer trade on the week with many seeing a 10-15p/kg lift.
