Hexham & Northern Marts held its weekly sale of Store Cattle & Suckled Calves with a catalogued entry of 238.
Trade for all classes would see a welcomed lift in trade for the week, all be it in small margins.
Forward and aged sorts would be slightly sharper, whilst grazing sorts met a flamboyant return.
A mixed show saw a top of £2500 on two separate occasions. Firstly for a pair of brilliant Blonde D’Aquitaine bred bullocks from R English & Son, Brown Leazes, then again from M D & J Stobbs, High Dalton with a thumping Limousin Bullock.
Heifers peaked at £2180 for a shapely Limousin cross from T J & A Jackson, Midgeholme.
Grazing and younger stamps of cattle in particular are very easy to cash and numbers are welcomed for next weeks sale.

Hexham & Northern Marts had a varied show of 1193 Cast Sheep & 260 Store Hogs, with vendors forward from Scotland, Ireland and all the northern counties.
All classes good to sell with a strong contingent present here at Hexham Mart.
Cast Ewes peaked at £335 for a Texel from S Henderson & Sons, Demesne.
Mules saw heights of £200 from G & E A Herdman, Luns House.
Horned ewes sold to £172 for Blackies from J & D Longlands, Tone Hall, whilst Swaledale’s topped at £152 from J A Sowerby, Amos Hill.
Hoggs met peak of £224 for Dutch Spotted from T J Lee & Son, Hackford.

Breeding Sheep
Hexham & Northern Marts sold a catalogued entry of 305 outfits of Ewes, Shearlings and Hoggs with lambs to yet another strong trade with the whole sale averaging a whopping £139.55 per life for an extra 208 lives sold on the year.
Ewes and lambs were well cashed all being younger lambs, topping at £132 per life or £296 per outfit was some smart Texel crosses from Brieredge Farm – this home also sold anther pen at £127 for stronger Mule ewes.
A pen of 59 Cheviot ewes and lambs from Hexham Mart man John Dixon, Chirdon caught attention when selling for £122 per life for well-bred sorts.
K & S M Johnson, Wolfhills sold a strong end of Texel x ewes with single and twin lambs to £137.
Shearlings with lambs sold to strong rates, topping at £172 for well-bred types from Wanwood Hill – this home also sold twins at £146 or £438 and averaged £154.33 for a quality run.
An ewe catching run of Dutch Spotted Shearling with lambs topped at £152 from S Henderson & Sons, Demesne, averaging £147.95 for a quality run.
Hoggs and lambs sold to fast returns, peaking at £182 on two occasions for a pen of 11 and 10 Texel x hoggs and lambs from W & J A Longlands, Rusheylaw.
Other Texel x hoggs reached £172 per life for sweet types from E Cuthbert & Son, Low Town and £168 twice, both from F Johnson, West Shipley.
Mule hoggs and lambs were also well cashed, reaching £175 and £170 for tw pens of 10 hoggs and Suffolk x lambs from Rochester & Murray, Glebe Farm.
