Hexham & Northern Marts held their final sale of Store Cattle for 2025 and offered a useful entry for the time of year with a catalogue of 110 head.
Trade continued in-line with recent weeks and the upturn in finished prices on the live market this week even spurring on buyer enthusiasm to a degree.
Leading the trade this week was a smart and hefty pen of cattle from Brian and Angus Tailford, Beacon Rigg and the father and son team saw their bullocks peak at £2450 for a super red Limmy steer with a great trio of black bullocks following at £2400. With two shapely heifers selling to £2150 the Langley based family were pleased with a return of £2186 across the board for 5 steers and 6 heifers sold on this day.
Similarly Mac & Gregor Young, Sharperton Edge sold a smart run of Angus cross cattle peaking at £2100 for bullocks and £2000 for heifers completing yet another successful days trading for the Coquet men averaging £1915 for four steers and five heifers traded on Tyne Green.

Hexham & Northern Marts sold 1320 Cast Ewes & Tups to a very strong trade with 13 active bidders ringside all very keen for sheep.
Topping the sale at £355 was a pair of Texel ewes from A & R Walton, Brunton Bank Top.
At £288 was a Dutch Texel ewe from B A & A M Storrow & Sons, Willimoteswick.
Suffolk x ewes sold to £238 for two pens of 4 from Foley Bros, Mirlaw House.
Bluefaced Leicester ewes sold to £216 for a pair from A & S Murray & Sons, West Deanraw.
Mule ewes topped at £195 for 5 from Mirlaw House.
Blackface ewes sold to £160 for a pair from H & L Morshead, Harsondale.

Topping the sale at £175 was a superb Charolais x lamb from T D Smith & Son, Stotgate.
At £157 was a Texel x lamb from T & K Telfer, Demesne.
Beltex x lambs sold to £150 for a trio from A J Hubbuck,. Highfpord.
