A very mixed offering of clean this week which once again met slight resistance and saw a high of 389.5p/kg and £2485.01 for a lovely Limousin cross heifer from H Clark & Sons, Paxton Dene.

Cows
Another nice entry of cast cows and bulls this week with fifty-two forward from across the North of England. These met a very firm trade which was just as dear as the previous week for a plainer show that lacked the flesh compared to last week.
The better end of continental bred cows met a resounding trade which would be sharper on the week. These were led by a six-year-old BB x cow from J Lee & Sons, Morley Hill which realised 367.5p/kg with another cashing at 335.5p/kg.
Non assured Blue cows from R E Williamson, Littleburn went on to sell for 333.5p/kg and 325.5p/kg.
Big well fleshed Angus bred cows are always sought after here at Hexham and sold extremely well once again with Alnwick based Angus breeder W D Allen, Humbleheugh selling tanks of Angus cows to 319.5p/kg and to the days highest grossing cow price of £3047.50.
A very fleshy Belted Galloway from H L Whitfield & Son, Batey Shield farm sold very well to 269.5p/kg.

A pair of cracking bulls forward this week met a great trade once again which sold to 319.5p/kg and £3131.10 for a Blonde from P & PM Walker, Houselope Grange. A big square, homebred Charolais bull from J Charlton, Harnham Hall Farming sold to 249.5p/kg and £3118.75.

481 Prime Hoggs sold to a nice trade with all different breeds, shapes and sizes forward.
Topping the sale at £244 was a Texel x hogg from J D Straughan, Hill Head who also sold Vendeen x hoggs to £236.
Top ppk came from B J Haigh, Hightown who sold 4 Texel x hoggs to 485ppk.
Hoggs continue to be wanted providing they are full of flesh.
