A smaller show of Clean Cattle this was forward this week, with a sale top of 401.5ppk for a Charolais heifer from F T Walton, Flotterton, with another from the same home peaking at £2637.86.

Cast Cows & OTM

A mixed and varied show of Cast Cows sold short of buyers’ requirements, with numbers demanded for next week’s sale.

Leading PPK was 347.5ppk for a Charolais from J Sisterson, Newlands Haugh, with the same home grossing the most for another Charolais realising £2909.28.

Also a small show of Stock Bulls met a strong trade, with a Limousin from J T Nixon & Sons, Stotsfold achieving the top spot at 275.5ppk and £2903.77.

Hexham & Northern Marts sold 938 Prime Hoggs to a dearer trade for all classes with hoggs weighing 32-88kg with an overall average of 336ppk or an SQQ of 357.6ppk & handy weights in extreme demand once again with heavies dearer again.

Topping the sale at £190 (404.3ppk) was a trio of Texel x hoggs from Messrs Pattinson, Pinfold House.

Top ppk was 468.8ppk for a trio from J H Emerson, Haggate who sold 36 clipped well-fed hoggs to average 425ppk.

More hoggs wanted to meet demand at Hexham with buyers for all shapes and sizes.
