An increased entry of Clean Cattle forward this week met a nice trade and slightly dearer than last week. A better entry of flesh forward which saw a wonderful pair of heifers from T Pearson & Son, High Plaskett Lands sell to a high of 407.5p/kg and £2445.00 for a British Blue cross and 401.5p/kg for a Limousin cross. Leaving the West Cumbrian producer very satisfied with his days trading. G W Dodd & Sons, Saugh House sold a well fleshed Angus cross heifer to 381.5p/kg.

Cast Cows
Another useful entry of Cast Cattle this week which once again met a very competitive trade selling to great returns and would be as dear as last week or even possibly slightly sharper, and these left another healthy average of 283p/kg for thirty-nine cows of all shapes and sizes. Leaner cows this week were especially dearer on the week and a reflection of numbers now becoming tighter.
Leading this week’s assortment was a well fleshed Limousin cow from G W Dodd & Sons, Saugh House which sold to 333.5p/kg. R R Reay & Sons, West Moorhouses sold also sold a well fleshed and heavy Limousin cow to 327.5p/kg and £2587.25.
The highest priced native bred cow was a terrific and well fleshed Angus cross consigned by G & J H Tomlinson & Son, Sunniside which realised 309.5p/kg and the days leading grossing value of £2701.94.
Proving all classes are easily cashed here at Hexham, a twelve-year-old Irish Holstein Friensian cow forward from Peepy Farm Ltd, Peepy sold to a very respectable 237.5p/kg and £1781.25.
