Hexham & Northern Marts had a reduced show of Store & Weaned Cattle forward, with potential vendors on with seasonal work.
A mixed show forward met a full contingent of buyers with a trade to match the heat outside.
Sale peaked at £2470 for a forward Angus x bullock from Holywell Farms, Church Farm, followed up at £2460 for a heifer from the same good home.
Younger sorts went on to sell to a decent return, with this section topping at £1980 for a well-bred Limousin x steer from J E Carruthers, Silloans.
Numbers fell short of buyer demand. Entries and enquiries are welcomed forward for next week’s sale.

Topping the sale at £342 was a Texel ewe from R F Rogerson, Harbottle Grange.
Not far behind at £322 was another Texel ewe from T Common & Son, Low Ardley.
Charolais ewes sold to £258 from Mr V Milburn, The Crook Farm.
Suffolk x ewes sold to £230 from Harbottle Grange.
Bluefaced Leicester ewes sold to £224 from J R F Pattinson, Hotbank.
Cheviot Mules sold to £209 from J J & J M Sanders, Bavington Hill Head.
Mule ewes sold to £195 for a pair from W & J A Longlands, Rusheylaw.
Blackface ewes sold to £169 for 4 from Hotbank.
Swale ewes sold to £162 from B W & G E Tailford, Beacon Rigg who also sold 9 at £147.

Store Lambs
Hexham & Northern Marts held its grand opening sale of Store Lambs with a catalogued entry of 1477.
Again credit due to all vendors for putting forward such a quality show of lambs on just the 10th July.
An enviable all in average of £148.02 was achieved, with purchasers keen to acquire quality stock from Hexham.
More lambs keenly sought after next Friday and every Friday to satisfy demand here at Hexham.
Topping the sale at £202 was a powerful Texel x from R H Frater, Moorlaws who also sold another pen of 10 at £182 and 10 more at £181.
Wolsingham Park Farms brought their usual consignment of 100 sweet Suffolk x and Texel x lambs to top at £192 for a trio of Suffolks – this run averaged a magnificent £169.76, up £35 on the year!
D J & W Sedgewick, Errington Red House peaked at £183 for 11 shapey sorts with 23 more good lambs at £165.
Mart man Keith Forsyth reached £200 for an outstanding Texel x.
A Ward, Rogerley Hall made his long-awaited return to Hexham, peaking at £170 for 12 super types with 28 more at £163.
Beltex x lambs reached £181 for 17 machines from M & L Churchyard, Hownsgill.
An exceptional run of 258 Texel x lambs from Messrs Graham, Stonehall, sold in just 3 lots, peaked at £163 for 34.
Many more lambs wanted for next weeks sale as well as prime lambs on Tuesday.
