Prime Cattle
A poorer class of clean cattle forward this week, but these still met a relatively firm trade and to a high of 389.5p/kg for a Limousin cross heifer from G H & A Walton, Farnbury. Thick and well fleshed Limousin cross heifers from Messrs Reay & Walton, St Oswalds topped the grossing charts selling to £2356.00.

Cows
Another useful entry of 53 Cast Cows and Bull here at Hexham met a great trade once again with all classes again eagerly bid for and sold to great returns with 54 Cows and Bulls selling to an average of 286p/kg. The best end of cows that carried flesh once again the easiest sold and in real demand, regularly cashing beyond 300p/kg. Plainer, harder feeding sorts yet again selling between 250-270p/kg.
Topping the days trading was a very classy and well fed, thirteen-year-old British Blue cross cow from A & CL Bell, Woodhall, selling to 325.5p/kg. Not too far behind was a younger Angus cow which carried plenty of meat from renowned commercial Angus producer, J C Rutherford, Old Town which sold to 323.5p/kg.
Top grossing cow on the days was a lump of a Pedigree Angus from E Lishman, Fell Lane which achieved £2944.58. Pure Simmentals from J J & J M Sanders sold to a high of £2786.85 whilst cross border raiders Edgerston Trading Ltd, Jedburgh sold well fed Saler cows to £2712.15.
