Breeding Sheep
Hexham & Northern Mart held its first breeding sheep sale of October which incorporated its Annual Sale of Cheviot Drafts & Gimmers, with a varied show of all breeds forward.
Gimmers
The sale started off with Mule & Other Breeds of Gimmers which met a packed ringside of buyers.
Mules were a strong pace from the off with the section seeing quality rise to the top!
£335 was the leading figure – this was awarded to C R Mackie – Crailing Nook, of whom this will be his final voyage to Tyne Green before a well-deserved retirement. His run of Gimmers was in the usual high spec accustomed from Crailing Nook over the years and we wish him and his family all the best for future endeavours.
A small but select show of Pure Texel gimmers were met with keen bidding, with this section reaching heights of £660 and again at £640 from regular supporters of this sale S T Wood, Shaw Wood.
