Second Ewe Lamb Show & Sale

Mule Ewe Lambs

Hexham and Northern Marts held its second sale of Mule Ewe Lambs with an increased entry of 1630 this year.

The pre – sale show this year was in the capable hands of Mr J Douglas, Howahill, Hawick. Mr Douglas gave the Overall Championship and the Arthur Iveson Shield to a very smart pen from W & P F Walton, Penpeugh. This stylish pen brought out exceptionally by son Ryan went on to sell for £190.00 and purchased by the judge.

Trade throughout was brisk and once again buyers were seen from all parts of the United Kingdom and fresh faces amongst them. Show of lambs would possibly be slightly smaller compared to last year but this did not effect trade what so ever. Running lambs especially were easier cashed with many exceeding £135. Stronger lambs regularly broke the £150 barrier and the sale average being £11 up on the year finishing at £139.23.

Thanks must go to our new sponsors this year, Sherwoods Motor Group. Your support is greatly appreciated.
