A mixed bag of clean sold to competitive rates with a new Wholesaler ringside.
Messrs B W & G E Tailford, Beacon Rigg sold Limousin cross heifers to 277.5ppk to Worsley Wholesale Butchers.
Highest grossing heifer came from Messrs R Thornton & Sons, Cornhills with a pure Limousin realising £1733.98

Cast Cows & OTM
Fewer cast cows and bulls about this week,but met a sharper trade. All classes once again in demand, Angus cows especially easily sold and taking the top spots for ppk and highest grossing animals.
Top ppk cow came from Mr S Anderson, Needless Hall Moor, Morpeth selling an Angus cross cow to 199.5ppk.
Highest grossing cow was a pedigree Angus from Alan Lawson, South Farm, realising £1946.67.
Cast Bulls sold to 169.5ppk for a Limousin from Messrs S K Richardson & Son, Prospect Grange.

Hexham and Northern Marts sold 1016 Prime Lambs to a similar trade considering the trade reduction nationwide. Better sorts still very good to sell but plainer lean lambs better placed in the store ring.
Topping the sale at £173 was a tremendous Texel cross lamb from Nilston Rigg Farms who also sold lambs to £157, £154 & £148.
Top ppk was a Beltex cross at 307.7ppk from RRE & JR Reay, St Oswalds.
