A much plainer, leaner show of cast cows & bulls this week met a stronger trade once again.
Messrs A & D Proctor, Swarland Old Hall made the successful trip down from Mid Northumberland with some lovely Limosuin and Limousin cross cows that cashed to £1907.46 and £1826.24.
Frank & Reg Simpson sold non assured cows to 227.5ppk and £1865.50.
Plenty of leaner, feeding types surpassed the 160ppk mark, leaving vendors extremely satisfied.
Reminder that next week sees our Annual Christmas Primestock Show & Sale for both cows and clean cattle. We ask all those wishing to exhibit cattle in the show to have them here and penned for 9.30am for judging to commence at 10.00am.

Hexham & Northern Marts sold 1121 prime lambs selling to a similar trade however the best lambs were dearer.
Topping the sale was a pen of four Texel lambs at £146 from Messrs J Browell & Sons, Quarry House. The same home also sold a pen of eight Texels at £143.50.
Suffolk cross lambs sold to £138 for a duo from Messrs G & J H Tomlinson & Son, Sunniside.
Top ppk was another pen of eight from Quarry House at 326.1ppk.
More lambs wanted providing they are full of flesh.
