Prime Cattle
Another handy entry of clean cattle with more meat available with some very well finished cattle forward. These met a firm trade considering the current prime cattle values and saw a high of 409.5p/kg and £2600.33 for a terrific Limousin cross heifer from T Pearson & Son, High Plaskett Lands. The same home sold Charolais crosses to 394.5p/kg.

Cast Cattle
A larger show of cast cattle forward this week which consisted of a leaner, poorer show of cows with a large proportion of those being older cows. Trade remains fairly firm, but the edge would just be off the harder, feeding types compared to the extreme rates that have been seen recently.
Leading the sale with a well-fleshed Limousin cross cow selling to 335.5p/kg and £2575.65 was J & A Moralee, Hard Riding. Not too far behind selling to 333.5p/kg was another Limousin cross, this time from J D Walton & Sons, Burnbank. A well feed Galloway cow from J R F Pattinson & Son, Hotbank sold to 288.5 and £2150.50.
Included in today’s sale was a selection of once-calved heifers from W H Smith & Sons, West Shield which peaked at 337.5p/kg and £2014.13.

Hexham and Northern Marts sold its first entry of 17 New Season Lambs selling to a fast trade. Topping at £228 or 495.7pk was a thumping Texel cross lamb.
Top p/kg was a pair of Hampshire Down Lambs at 505.7p/kg.
Lambs will be wanted to meet buyers demand.
