More clean cattle forward this week, these met a slightly easier trade. This said, a nice run of well fleshed heifers from Cumbrian finisher, T Pearson & Son, High Plaskett Lands sold to a high of 397.5p/kg and £2544.00 for a lovely Limousin cross. The sole steer entry was a Luing cross steer from A Hall & Sons, Barker House which sold to 327.5p/kg and £2587.25.

A small entry of Prime Bulls this week sold to a straight trade and to a high of 355.5p/kg for a Simmental from C Parker & Son, Newsham Grange, Darlington. New vendor GH Farms Ltd, Grange Hill sold Charolais cross bulls to £2509.85.

Cast Cattle

A reduced entry of Cast Cattle this week met a similar trade for the quality of cattle forward. The better end of Continental bred cows still sold extremely well with a fantastic non-assured, Pure Limousin from R R Reay & Sons, West Moorhouses sold to 345.5p/kg. The same home sold the highest grossing animal on the day with a monster British Blue cross cow selling to £3082.10.

Prime Hoggs

Hexham and Northern Marts sold 679 Prime Hoggs which was an increase of 307 on the year. A wide range of breeds and weights on offer sold to a fast trade with a lot of heavy weights forward.

Topping the sale at £243 was a superb Beltex x hogg from J J & J M Sanders, Bavington Hill Head who also sold other hoggs at £241 and £240.

A pair of Beltex x hoggs sold to 505ppk again from Bavington Hill Head.

Swaledale hoggs sold to £182.50 for a pen of 39 from K Smith & Sons, East Greenridge
