A slightly plainer entry of clean cattle this week met a slightly easier trade compared to last weeks great returns but still in front of alternative destinations. This section was topped at 395.5p/kg for a Charolais cross heifer from FT Walton, Flotterton.

Young Bulls

A pair of young bulls forward this week sold to a solid trade and a high of 359.5p/kg or £3217.53 for a Pure Charolais from Messrs Curry, Low Burradon.

Cast Cattle

The Hexham Cast Cow bonanza continues! Increased numbers forward met a fast trade with all classes in serious demand and extreme rates of return were witnessed. Topping the sale this week at 383.5p/kg with a very stylish and well finished British Blue cross was J & A Moralee, Hard Riding. The trade must have been fairly impressive and mesmerizing as it had the power to make John completely speechless.

Not far behind with an overaged Limousin cross heifer was G & EA Herdman, Luns House which realised 379.5p/kg.

Topping the native cows this week was a fit young cow from J Armstrong, Rookland which achieved 321.5p/kg. A monstrous Pure Angus from E Lishman, Fell Lane sold to 317.5p/kg and £3000.38.

Leaner, feeding types were very easily sold a noticeably dearer on the week with many surpassing 300p/kg. More needed to fulfill demand.

Three cast bulls forward this week met an absolute flyer of a trade and sold to 325.5p/kg for a 11 year old Limousin from K Wilson, Blue Gables. A shapey Limousin from A & T Dixon, Chirdon went on to realise £3312.75. A very fleshy Angus from T M Lough & Son, Whittle went on to achieve 284.5p/kg and £3200.63.

Prime Hoggs

Hexham and Northern Marts sold 461 Prime Hoggs to a strong trade with handy weights selling to extreme demand.

Topping at £228 was a pair of Suffolk x Hoggs from R H Thompson & Son, Fitches Grange whos run of 76 went on to average £211.19 overall.

Top p/kg was a pair of Beltex x Hoggs from B J Haigh, Hightown at 515.0p/kg.
