Prime Cattle
An improved entry of clean cattle this week with more flesh on offer which created a nice trade which was possibly slightly sharper on the week. Leading the sale with a well finished, super Limousin cross heifer selling to 425.5p/kg was now regular consigner, T Pearson & Son, High Plaskett Lands, Maryport.
Highest grossing Clean Heifer this week was a Pure Charolais from JHC Campbell & Sons, Thrunton which realised £2631.54.

Young Bulls
The sole Young Bull entry this week was a Pure Luing from Hindmarsh Partners, Stoop Rigg which sold to 327.5p/kg and £2472.63. More Young Bulls can easily be sold on a Tuesday and we are actively seeking more to fulfill demand.

Cast Cattle
A better selection of cast cattle this week with an increased offering of better Continental type cows forward. These met a terrific trade which would yet again be dearer on the week, especially for the better shaped Continentals types. This left a highly desirable average of 313p/kg for the Cast Cattle.
The days leading priced cow came from a terrific run of nine Limousin cross cows from J E Woodman & Son, Great Chesters which sold to an eye watering 384.5p/kg. The same home also sold cows to 371.5p/kg and 345.5p/kg.
A big, square Pure Charolais cow from JHC Campbell & Sons, Thrunton sold to 327.5p/kg and grossed £2882.00.
A handful of native cows this week sold to 311.5p/kg for an Angus cross from Mr FT Walton, Flotterton. A nice run of Luing cows, straight off the hill at Chesterhope from D & A Stanners sold to 305.5p/kg.
Small offering of Stock Bulls this week which sold to 317.5p/kg and £2921.00 for a Limousin from J Lee & Sons, Morley Hill.

Hexham and Northern Marts sold 491 Prime Hoggs to a strong trade for a lot of weight forward up to 89kg. The whole sale went on to average 49.1kg.
Topping the sake at £267 was a pair of Beltex x Hoggs from J J & J M Sanders, Bavington Hill Head who sold 96 to average £201.05.
Top p/kg was a Dutch Spotted cross Hogg at 494.4p/kg from Weardale finisher N & P Rutherford, Irestone Farm.
