CAST COWS
More numbers of Cast Cattle forward this week with 76 Cows and Bulls forward. As seen the last few weeks, cows still showing signs of the dry summer and carrying less flesh than usually seen this time of year.
Trade was sharp once again and would be slightly dearer on the week for the better type of cows. Cows that carried flesh and conformation would see a rise of 5-10p/kg.
The sale was topped by a marvellous run of Charolais cross cows from H & E Bird & Sons, Colwell Hill that sold to a high of 335.5p/kg and 333.5p/kg. A fit twelve-year-old BB x cow from R English & Son, Brownsleazes changed hands at 331.5p/kg.
Another large entry of Angus cross cows forward this week once again, and the highlight of these was an absolute unit of cow from M J Dixon, The Stobbs that grossed to £3035.85.
With momentum now with the cast cattle trade, more numbers are eagerly sought after for the next few weeks.
