A nice show of clean met slight resistance and would be slightly easier on the week. Topping the sale with a smart Limouisin cross heifer was T Pearson & Son, High Plaskett Lands which sold to 404.5p/kg. The same home cashed Charolais cross heifers for the highest grossing value on the day for £2526.32.

Cows
A very mixed offering of Cast Cattle this week met a firm trade and in line with the previous week’s rates of return. Again, the better fed continental type cows were easily sold and sold regularly in excess of 300p/kg. The poorer, leaner, older sorts once again met the same trade as previous weeks and in line with what has been observed everywhere (even if they don’t admit it).
Leading the sale with a fantastic British Blue cross cow was regulars, Messrs Rochester & Murray, Glebe Farm which sold to 341.5p/kg and grossed to £2841.28. Pure Charolais cows from JHC Campbell & Sons, Thrunton sold to £2587.50.

Topping the sale at £245 was a Texel x hogg from D A, P Burn & Son, Aydonshields.
At £244 was a pen of 12 Suffolk x hoggs from D F Brodie, Chesters who sold 40 to average £238.33.
Top ppk was a pen of 5 Texel x hoggs at 488.4ppk from B J Haigh, Hightown who sold another 5 at 476ppk.
Swale hoggs sold to 386.4ppk for 16 from N & P Rutherford, Irestone.
