St Johns chapel sold a fantastic entry of 2420 Store Lambs and Feeding Ewes to a strong trade throughout, with many calling it the biggest show of sheep in many years, on a stormy day.
Thanks must go to all vendors and purchasers for making it another great sale and braving the weather.
Topping the sale at £145 was a quality pen of 23 Texel x lambs from O Harrison, Aimshaugh who averaged £129.02 for a well-bred run of lambs.
More strong Texel x lambs sold to good rates with J M & K Robinson, Ling Riggs selling 15 at £121 and another 39 at £112. Messrs Robinson also brought forward a strong run of 286 Mule lambs which peaked at £114 for 40 and 50 more at £110 averaging £104 for 352 sold.
Suffolk x lambs were in demand with Mr I Collinson, Billing Shield selling 10 good sorts to £122 and 45 more from this home at £111. Others reached £117 from D H Craig, New Park House and £114 for 27 from J Walshaw & Son, Dryderdale.
Over 600 Swale lambs sold to good rates with them averaging £58.12 all in. Topping was 35 great lambs at £76 from T W Vickers, Glenwhelt who also sold 62 more at £60. Mr I Collinson, Billing Shield sold a pen of 59 at £69 with J Archer, Whitehill selling 32 at £68 and 68 at £65.
Mule lambs again sold to strong rates, topping at £117 was 30 from W Morley & Son, Warden Hill. An outstanding 712 Mule lambs sold to average £100.17 with credit to vendors for bringing forward such good lambs given the dry summer.
