Hexham & Northern Marts sold 1257 Cast Ewes & Tups to a strong trade on the week, with very best Ewes and poorest both seeing a considerable rise.
Ewes topped for a trio of Texels from D E Wilkinson & Partners, Ridley Stokoe.
Texel cross Ewes reached £212 from G S Dodda & Son, Delight Farm with Suffolk cross Ewes also from this home reaching £200 and £199.
Mule Ewes sold to £159 from W H Smith & Sons, West Shields
Cheviot Cross Ewes peaked at £152 from Dodd & Wise Sillywrea.
Bluefaced Leicester Ewes sold to £207 from H S Hutchinson & Son, White House.

Blackface Rams topped at £140 from W E Charlton, Greenleas.

Store Lambs
Hexham & Northern Mart sold a good entry of 3227 Store Lambs on the typically “quieter” Kelso day. Up 1252 lambs on the year, selling over 2000 more sheep on the same day last year. Lambs even dearer on the week with recent rainfall certainly helping.
Topping at £152 were 3 strong Texel cross lambs from Lambshield Farm, Texel cross lambs proved in strong demand with 66 Different pens making £120 or more.
Beltex cross lambs sold to £148 from P & EB Robson, Middle Horsleyhope who also sold other pens to £139, £135 & £134 twice.
The first signs of horned sheep sold to £99 from R H Frater, Moorlaws.
Dutch Texels sold to £136, £134 and £132 from BA & AM Storrow, Willimoteswick.
Mules were well sold especially anything with strength topping at £111 for 13 from SJ & BA Murray, Stable Yard.
