A poorer show of clean this week compared to last weeks exceptional entry, but still sold well with Charolais cross heifers from Mr F T Walton, Flotterton selling to 285.5p/kg and 283.5p/kg. Angus cross heifers from the same home peaked at 263.5p/kg twice.

Young Bulls

A pair of young bulls came across the boarder to take advantage of the Hexham ring and scales from J R B Wilson & Sons, Cowbog. The Hereford Bulls sold to 267.5p/kg and £1893.75

Cast Cows & OTM

More cattle about this week that reaped the rewards and took advantage of the reduced numbers nationally and met a dearer trade once again.

Better continental cows especially east to cash with many selling in excess of 230p/kg.

Leading this weeks sale was Messrs J Lee & Sons, Agars Hill who sold Limousin cross cows to 253.5p/kg and 245.5p/kg.

Messrs JS Gibson & Son, Thornton Towers also managed the 245.5p/kg mark with a Limousin cross cow.

Highest grossing animal on the day went to a great Charolais bull from Mr F T Walton, Flotterton which achieved £2198.20.

Nilston Rigg Farms cashed pure Limousin cows to £1949.73.

Handful of ex-parlour ladies in again this week which sold very well for the quality available with Holstein Friesians from Peepy Farm Ltd selling to 169.5p/kg.

A small but nice show of ewes sold very well to average £155.09 and a top of £179 for Texels from Haggate. Mules reached a high of £150 from Pigdon.
