At its 3rd Sale of Crossing Type Bluefaced Leicesters, Hexham & Northern Marts presented a fantastic entry of 100 tups with a 99% clearance, it is extremely encouraging to see this exciting sale go from strength to strength. An astonishing wholesale average of £1290.32 was witnessed with all thanks to the vendors for bringing forward such quality sheep and purchasers for supporting the relatively new sale.
This years show was ably judged by Mule and Leicester fanatics, Mr Richard Bell, Hexham who judged Ram Lambs and Mr Angus Graham, Alston who judged Shearlings who came upon the following results

The Sale kicked off with a bang as the first tup in the ring T038 from J Hunter & Sons, The Steel made £4000, this powerhouse was sired by Breck House S2, The Steels next tup in the ring T031 the 1st Prize Shearling made £2400, this very correct tup was sired by the famous Midlock Magic.
ML & BE Coulthard, Bridge End made the successful first trip to Hexham, selling the 3rd placed shearling to £2400 this well-known good getter was sired by Highberries P021, the Coulthards averaged £1600 for the three tups forward.
Next up was the dispersal of home bred tups from the renowned Carry House flock, a careers worth of dedication was presented to everyone with his first tup in the ring making £8500 – a new centre record for the Bluefaced Leicesters at Hexham, sired by Carry House P1 this tup had fierce ringside bidding and was undoubtedly the pick of the day. Lot number 53 from Martyn bred by Hewgill R015 was next reaching £4500. Next was the reserve champion and second prize ram lamb, Carry House V005 bred by Midlock Magic. This well bred lamb went on to make £2500, a very fitting end for such a great flock.
Up next was TW & TV Edgar, Linton Bankhead who presented a sharp Leicester Ram Lamb sired By Carry House T036, this tup went on to reach £4500.
Moving onto the Champion, winning for the second year in a row was GA & BB Ainslie, Linkshead, sired by Giants Causeway T004, this cocky ram lamb made £1600, another success for the Linkshead flock.
J Hunter & Sons, The Steel also presented some fantastic tup lambs, Steel V028 making £1800 and V030 making £1600, The Steel Flock averaged £1583 for 9 tups sold.
The well known Shitlington Hall flock fresh from winning the ‘Bellingham’ Mule sale here at Hexham, brought forward some sweet lambs peaking at £1500 for V027 and £1400 for V031.
R & M J Lee, Harwood Shield reached £2000 for his first lamb in the ring, a powerful tup born to breed good Mule lambs.
A tribe of good BFL lambs were brought forward from Weardale from the White House flock, West Biggins, Hill House West and Pinfold. H S Hutchinson & Son, White House averaged £1030 for 8 sold peaking at £1300. C Hodgeson, Hill House West sold lambs to £2000 and £1400 and W M Reed & Sons, West Biggins reached £1000.
