Hexham Auction Mart
Hexham and Northern Marts sold 957 Cast Ewes & Rams at their weekly sale. The overall number of ewes included a number of plainer feeding types, selling well throughout although no dearer on the week.
Texel ewes from Chapel House topped the sale at £165. Mule ewes peaked at £110 from Newonstead. Rams were topped by Messrs G & E A Herdman, Lunns Houses for a pen of Texel rams selling to £170, with Messrs BN & S Urwin, Lynnshields also selling a Cast Tup, this time a Cheviot to £160.

A nice show of lambs forward on Kelso Ram sale day, a sharp trade with some Vendors £5 dearer on the week. Topping today’s sale was a Texel cross from Low Chesterhope at £133. Beltex crosses sold to £120 from Close Head and Suffolk crosses to £114 from Old School House. Burdonside topped the mules today with a penful selling to £89, while a nice pen of Mules from Harwood Shield sold to £81.
